SPED 102 - Elementary American Sign Language II SPED 102 - Elementary American Sign Language II (3 credits) This is the second semester of an introductory course in American Sign Language (ASL). The goal is to bring a person unable to communicate in ASL to a basic level of communicative competency. The course is taught using ASL; little voicing is used. The content includes semantic notations and social functions as well as grammatical structures. Students will participate in class using ASL in groups/pairs as well as through video and activities. Culturally appropriate behaviors associated with Deaf Culture will be emphasized throughout the course. ASL 101 or SPED 101 - Elementary American Sign Language I . Grade only. on demand. Note: Credit cannot be earned for both ASL 102 and SPED 102. Course Registration
