THAD 106 - College Dance Technique and Creativity THAD 106 - College Dance Technique and Creativity (2 credits) Meets GOAL 6 (Fine Arts). This course introduces dancers to dancing in a college, curricular environment through practicing a range of American concert dance techniques, supported by somatics, kinesiology, and creativity. Daily technical experiences apply anatomy, developmental coordination patterns, and dynamic artistry to dancing within and beyond Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, and/or Partnering. Collaborative problem solving, improvisational methods, theoretical readings, video, and discussion underpin this course’s physical practice, of which culminates in the generation of choreography. This is the foundational, entry-level course for experienced dancers at WSU; first year students seeking to dance at WSU and/or are considering minoring in dance are highly encouraged to enroll. 5+ years of prior dance training (or equivalent) is highly recommended.
