HS147 — Understanding Human Diversity
3 Credit(s) This course examines issues surrounding human diversity, understanding and appreciating differences and exploring the impact that students’ values and attitudes have on their interactions with individuals from various groups as distinguished by race, ethnicity, gender or gender identity, LGBTQ orientation, social class, religion, and subculture. The focus is on increasing students’ awareness of the impact of diversity on individual development and frame of reference and on the impact that their own values and backgrounds have on their responses and interactions with others, especially as applied to the role of “professional er.” Pre/Corequisite(s): Satisfactory reading and writing placement or ENG 097
