BIO 120 — Human Nutrition
/3 contact hours This course examines the basic principles of human nutrition during the lifecycle from infancy throughout adulthood. The functions of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins, minerals, and water will be discussed in relationship to growing and maintaining life. The effects of a deficiency or overabundance of each nutrient will be explored, as well as the role of nutrition in preventing and managing human diseases such as obesity, eating disorders, diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease, and cancer.
