CJS 103 — Practical Applications in Criminal Justice

/3 contact hours This interactive hands-on course introduces students to practical learning experiences that reflect functional realities in the criminal justice field. The course makes use of simulated scenarios to demonstrate decision making, interpersonal communication skills, de-escalation techniques, and use of force. Tactical exercises are performed to expose students to a hands-on component. The course includes enforcement functions, court proceedings, correctional operations, and the integration of forensics, information management and data analysis. Students will observe one another, observe practitioners, and learn through discussion of their observations. By the end of the course, students will have observed and practiced a broad range of criminal justice system functions. Core Fulfilled: None
