ENG 095 — Reading and Writing Workshop

/3 contact hours This intensive course is designed to prepare students for college–level reading and writing assignments. Students will learn reading comprehension and critical reading strategies, as they work with articles, essays, and college textbooks. Short writing assignments will focus on basic writing skills, including paragraph development, sentence structure, and mechanics. Prerequisite(s): Directed self-placement Core fulfilled: None course descriptions 3 credits/3 contact hours This course emphasizes the development of writing, analytical reading, and critical thinking skills so that students are able to communicate ideas, formulate arguments, and locate and use credible sources.
