ELI081L — Oral Communication

(0 credit) 45 ; considered 3 semester-hours for billing and scheduling purposes This course offers high intermediate non-native English speakers practice in academic oral comprehension and classroom communication skills. Emphasis is placed on using appropriate language for expressing disagreement, managing frustration, and interrupting respectfully. Students learn to listen actively, take notes, paraphrase and synthesize listening selections, and respond appropriately. Oral presentations, discussions of personal and cultural perspectives, and expressing and supporting opinions are also key components of the course.
