HIT130 — Health Information Practicum I

(2 credits) 90 professional practice hours Students will apply skills gained in HIT courses and acquire additional competency in health record analysis, retrieval, and maintenance. This course covers all areas Health Information Management including computer applications in MPI, chart control, medical coding, and patient registration. There is a mandatory Onsite Orientation before going onsite; and Mandatory Debriefing, which will include onsite critique/debriefing and practice before Portfolio Presentations.

Prerequisites: HIT121, HIT124, HIT232
