RSC115 — Clinical Practicum I

(2 credits) 90 clinical hours; 30 conference hours This course includes a clinical component wherein the student develops the clinical skills needed to provide, assess, and recommend those aspects of Respiratory Care related to non critically ill patients in a hospital setting. This course also includes a weekly conference that presents: a) the microbiology information required to understand, implement and assess infectious processes and Infection Control measures in the hospital setting, b) components associated with professional behavior in the clinical setting c) American Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations related to healthcare providers d) Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations related to healthcare providers e) case study discussions f) ethical practices of Respiratory Care g) components of effective communication in the medical field.
