VNRS 170 — Medical-Surgical Nursing II 6 Units (AA/AS) 108 lecture hours Equivalent to: NRS 170
Provides advanced vocational nursing students with the theoretical foundation needed to perform skills and procedures related to the care of the adult medical-surgical patient in the VNRS 171L rotation. By consistently emphasizing the nursing process and rationale, the approach to each body system includes basic assessment or data collection, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation. Basic nursing skills are reinforced while advanced nursing skills include those related to the following body systems: respiratory, cardiovascular, hematopoietic, lymphatic, immune, neurologic, sensory, endocrine, and genitourinary. This course also includes a short discussion on cancer.
