EMAT 352 — Mechanical Engineering Materials: 4 Credits (3 Lec, 1 Lab)

(F, Sp) Physical and mechanical properties of metallic, ceramic, and polymeric materials as related to chemical bonding, atomic packing, and crystalline structure. Covers aspects of defects, diffusion, phase equilibria and phase transformations to understand the evolution of phases and microstructure development. Hands-on lab experience to identify and quantify physical and mechanical properties of engineering materials. Laboratory reporting and experimental procedures are emphasized .

Prerequisites: WRIT 101W, CHMY 141, CHMY 121IN, EGEN 205, EGEN 208, ETME 216
