HSTR 468 — From Empire to Republic: 3 Credits (3 Lec)

This course looks systematically at the transitions taking place from an imperial world to that of a post-imperial one. What are the qualities of empire, and how do they differ from those of a republic? What, if anything, can we learn today from imperial approaches to managing diverse populations?
