PN 111 — Mental Health Practical Nursing

In this course, students use the nursing process to implement a plan of care for clients with mental health issues. Students organize and provide care that incorporates concepts of therapeutic communication, shared-decision making, and evidence-based practice to effectively support health promotion and maintenance of the client in the role of the practical nurse. An emphasis is placed on legal and ethical standards in the mental health setting. Students are challenged to reflect on their own assumptions, behaviors, and methods of communication. Usually offered in the summer. Course fee.
