BIOL 107/107L — Fundamentals of Microbiology
Students will be able to describe the characteristics of living things from the molecular to the cellular level for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. The study of microbiology will enable the student to understand the biology of bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and viruses in terms of morphology, classification, reproduction, metabolism, genetics, population growth, and disease production. In the laboratory, the student will gain experience with the tools and techniques used in the study of microorganisms. This course is designed primarily for allied health students. ** Not all allied health programs accept BIOL107 to satisfy their microbiology prerequisite (CCBC, Towson, and others). It is important for students considering taking this course to contact their prospective future programs for their particular pre-requisite requirements before registering for this course.
Prerequisites: ENGL 086, ENGL 095, ENGL 121
