ENGL 208 — Contemporary Poetry

This course focuses on conventions and characteristics of contemporary poetry and poets’ creative process. Students study terminology and literary concepts in order to interpret, analyze, and critically evaluate poems written from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present. In addition, students are introduced to critical reading strategies, literary criticism, and an expanding literary canon which includes the work of culturally diverse poets.

Prerequisites: ENGL 121
