THET 209 — Modern Drama

This course focuses on reading, analyzing, and interpreting plays from the modern era distinct from earlier periods; understanding them as products of specific cultural, historical, scientific, and artistic currents; and exploring them as performance texts intended for production. Special attention will be given to the major trends in modern theatre including Realism, Naturalism, musical theatre, Expressionism, Epic Theatre, and Theatre of the Absurd.

Prerequisites: ENGL 121
