BIO 121 — Animal Nutrition

This course will study the composition of animal feed, nutritional and feeding requirements of animals, dietary formulation and the digestive process. Lecture topics will include the macro and micronutrients, the digestive process (anatomy, physiology and metabolism), feedstuffs, feeding and problems of incorrect feeding/malnutrition. Students will visit a feed company, a commissary and/or a feed mill to observe application of nutritional knowledge and practices.

Prerequisites: BIO 111
