A well-designed classroom and program maximizes student learning. Learn how to select and arrange classroom materials, as well as how to plan and implement effective schedules and routines. Get an overview of lesson planning and different kinds of curricula. Discover how to assess the individual needs of children, as well as how to individualize instruction to meet these needs. Gather tools for evaluating and making adjustments to the program. Designed for early childhood educators in child care centers and schools, this program focuses on teaching concepts and skills that have immediate applications. Students identify effective teaching strategies and techniques and practice these strategies during each course for use in their centers or classrooms. The completion of all ten (10) courses below satisfies the educational component for obtaining a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, and the hours may also be used toward a Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) credential. These courses meet the annual staff development requirements enacted by the New Jersey Bureau of Child Care Licensing. Upon completing the program and passing the CDA credentialing exam, you may apply to Mercer County Community College to enter the Early Childhood credit program and be articulated for up to six credits.
