NCLEGMI001 — ADA BS3

0.3 credits · 0.3 hours

The ADA training consists of three modules. The first module is a traditional lecture. It provides: 1. a brief overview of the history of the disability laws applicable to New Jersey employers; 2. identifies who is considered disabled under these laws; 3. reviews the laws' basic requirements and provisions; 4. provides and discusses flow charts explaining an employer's obligation to engage in an interactive process with disabled employees to identify reasonable accommodations; 5. provides information about various resources available to assist in developing reasonable accommodation issues; and 6. Identifies various other employment issues that attach in the disability context such a drug testing, privacy interests, etc. The primary goal of this module is to provide basic information about disability issues facing New Jersey employers. The second module consists of hypotheticals and a quiz. Each of the hypotheticals presents a common disability-related employment issue, and walks the attendees through the applicable principles necessary to resolve the issue. The quiz essentially tests and reaffirms that the attendees have retained key information presented in the first module, and the review of the answers also serves as another opportunity to reaffirm the core principles from module 1. The last module is a jeopardy-type board game that asks the attendees to answer questions related to the information taught in module 1 to compete for nominal prizes. It tests the retention of key information, provides another opportunity for the attendees to apply that information, and again reaffirms the core principles from module 1 in dialogue about the various answers. This module is an enjoyable and competitive way to engage the attendees in spirited dialog while further reviewing and reinforcing the material presented in module 1. .
