Suicide is on the rise in our communities, in our country, and worldwide. Active listening is composed of skills that can help to prevent suicidal thinking and behavior, and can help alleviate the pain of other mental health issues. Active Listening is fundamental to better relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and in day to day encounters with others. As we learn active listening skills, we can use this "self-help" class to engage in "together-help"! Objectives - Upon completion of this course, participants will have learned, and practiced with classmates, crucial active listening skills, such as empathy, paraphrasing feelings, avoiding assumptions and judgement, open-ended questions, and more.
