ECE 102 — Growth & Development of the Young Child

This course covers the dynamics of child growth and development from birth to eight (8) years of age. Students identify a range of child growth and development theories and study cultural, economic, political, psychodynamic, and historical contexts that affect development. Through developmental observations, students describe children’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development at various stages, including infant/toddler, preschool, and young school age.
