MAT 242 — MAT 242

Linear Algebra Linear Algebra blends the theoretical and practical aspects of mathematics and is applicable to numerous fields of study. The course topics are investigated by practicing deductive reasoning, constructing elementary proofs, and applying a variety of algebraic techniques. Topics include: systems of linear equations; matrix algebra; determinants and their properties; the structure of Rn; vectors and vector spaces; linear independence and span; basis and dimension; rank of a matrix and the Rank Theorem; inner product spaces; orthogonal bases; linear transformations; eigenvalues; eigenvectors; and diagonalization of matrices. Additional topics include the Gram Schmidt Orthogonalization Process and projection onto a subspace. PR: MAT 180 Mobile Food Service
