Theory IV Theory IV builds on the concepts of MUS 251, Theory III and covers two-voice eighteenth century counterpoint, altered dominants, chromatic mediants, enharmonic modulation, and common tone diminished 7th chords. There is a focus on the analysis of sonata form. Twentieth century topics include impressionism, twelve-tone techniques, and the analysis of pitch class sets.
