Literature and Style I This course is a comprehensive survey of the works and styles of Western art music in the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical periods. Students focus on composers and compositions that made important contributions to the development of music, and examine the effects and influences of society, culture, and technology on the evolution of music of various genres.
