BIOL 255 — Cell Biology

Students will develop an understanding of how eukaryotic cells function, along with an appreciation of the experimental approaches that are behind this knowledge. The course will focus on cell architecture, the structure and function of proteins, genetics and molecular biology, biomembranes, transport across cell membra nes, the integration of cells into tissues, control of transcription, and signaling pathways. Critical reading and discussion of journal articles is introduced in the course. Methods in molecular and cellular biology are also introduced. Prerequisite(s): BIOL-100 or BIOL-124 Corequisite(s): none
