EDU 540 — Reading Instruction - Elementary (K-6)
This course studies the best practices in elementary reading instruction to accommodate the needs of varied learners. S tudy will involve best practices related to literacy development and exploration of the implications of knowledge about the reading/writing process for effective instruction. Topics include: research knowledge about literacy processes, early literacy experiences, the five building blocks in reading instruction, instructional materials, classroom organization for effective literacy instruction, and strategies for instruction/assessment in reading.
