ARTH 400 — Art and Architecture of Egypt: 3 Credits (3 Lec)

No prerequisites for non majors. This lecture-based course is an exploration of the art and architecture of ancient Egypt from the Neolithic period (5000-3100 B.C.E.) to the era of Roman rule in the first through fifth centuries CE. Due to the nature of the surviving material, the emphasis will be on the ideas and attitudes about the relationship between humans and divinities, the cult of the ruler/king, and funerary cult and the afterlife
