ARTZ 261 — Metals I: 4 Credits (2 Lec, 2 Lab)
(F, Sp) An introductory course in basic metalsmithing techniques and three-dimensional design skills. Students will work in non-ferrous metal to learn techniques including soldering, riveting, lapidary and stone setting. There is an emphasis on jewelry design, however, students are free to produce other functional or non-functional objects on a small scale. Assignments focus on a technique and a concept, and are evaluated on craftsmanship and aesthetics
