ENGL101 — Introduction to College Writing

Credit for Prior Learning An introduction to college writing. The first of two sequential freshman composition courses, this course emphasizes the process of critical thinking, reading, and writing. Student writing progresses from a personal to an academic perspective. Students write for different audiences and purposes using a variety of rhetorical strategies. Students will strengthen grammar skills, including usage, mechanics, and punctuation. Students write in response to reading and are introduced to standard documentation procedures. Students are required to submit a final portfolio that meets department requirements. Three hours each week. 3 semester hours Course

Prerequisites: ENGL011, IERW002, AELW940, ELAI990
